Best AI smart glasses in 2026: Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, Meta Ray-Ban Display and more

AI smart glasses put a camera, microphones, speakers and an AI assistant into a frame that looks like ordinary eyewear. You ask a question, take a photo, translate a conversation or answer a message without reaching for your phone. In September 2026 there are two kinds on sale, and Google’s first pairs are due this fall. This guide compares the leading pairs, what they cost and who each suits. It reflects what makers had published by September 24, 2026, including Meta’s Connect announcements on September 23.

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) and Ray-Ban Meta Audio: the new Ray-Ban glasses

At Connect on September 23, 2026, Meta launched Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) from $449 and Ray-Ban Meta Audio from $349. Gen 3 has up to nine hours of battery, a 12 MP camera with 3K Ultra HD video, a six-microphone array that Meta says cuts more than 90% of background noise, a customisable action button for Meta AI, and Aviator, Zena and Wayfarer styles. Ray-Ban Meta Audio is Meta’s first audio glasses: 43 grams, up to 12 hours of use plus 48 from the case, in Clubmaster and Burbank styles, shipping on October 13. Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2): the previous generation

Meta’s second-generation Ray-Ban glasses start at $379 and come in Wayfarer, Skyler and Headliner styles. According to Meta, a full charge lasts up to eight hours and the case adds another 48 hours, with 50% charge in 20 minutes. They record 3K Ultra HD video, with ultrawide HDR at up to 60 frames per second and more than twice the pixels of the first generation. You talk to Meta AI hands-free to ask questions, get live translation and send messages.

Oakley Meta: for sport

Oakley Meta HSTN launched in 2025, with the rest of the collection starting at $399 (the limited-edition model was $499 for pre-order). Meta lists up to eight hours of typical use, up to 48 hours with the case, 3K video and an IPX4 water-resistance rating.

Oakley Meta Vanguard costs $499 and is built for high-intensity sport. Meta lists an IP67 dust and water rating, up to nine hours of battery, a centred 12-megapixel camera with a 122-degree lens and 3K video. It works with Garmin devices and Strava so you can ask for your heart rate or overlay your stats on photos and videos.

Meta Ray-Ban Display: a screen in the lens

Meta Ray-Ban Display costs $799 with the Meta Neural Band, a wristband that reads muscle signals so you control the display with small hand gestures. A full-colour display sits in the right lens for messages, walking directions, live captions and Meta AI answers. It launched in the US only, but at Connect Meta put it on sale online in the US, online and in stores in Canada and the UK, and set France, Italy and Germany for October 13, adding cycling directions, hologram calls and more. Even G2: display without a camera

Even Realities’ G2 look like ordinary glasses and weigh 36 grams. They start at $599, and there is no camera by design; they have a microphone, and they show information in your line of sight. Even lists a teleprompter, real-time translation in 35 languages, note-taking from conversations, and an assistant you wake with “Hey, Even”. Battery lasts up to two days, and the case holds seven full charges. They work with iPhone and Android through the Even Realities app, and prescription lenses start at $159 for single vision.

Android XR glasses: coming this fall

Google announced Android XR glasses at I/O on May 19, 2026, made with Samsung and with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster frames. Google says audio glasses launch first, later this fall, and there are display versions too. With Gemini they are meant to give turn-by-turn navigation, real-time translation, photo and video capture, hands-free messaging and app help. They pair with Android and iOS phones. Which AI glasses should you choose?

• You want the simplest, most popular option: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), or the earlier Gen 2 if you find it cheaper.
• You mainly want music, podcasts and calls: Ray-Ban Meta Audio, from $349.
• You want the cheapest Meta pair: the Meta Adventurer, from $249, on sale October 23. Meta calls it its most accessible price yet.
• You wear prescription lenses: Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) from $499, or Even G2 with prescription lenses.
• You run, ride or ski: Oakley Meta Vanguard.
• You want to read messages and directions without your phone: Meta Ray-Ban Display, sold in the US, Canada and the UK now and in France, Italy and Germany from October 13.
• You give talks or presentations: Even G2’s teleprompter.
• You use an Android phone and can wait: Google’s Android XR glasses.

Privacy and etiquette

Glasses with cameras change what other people can assume about a conversation. Tell people when you record, follow local recording laws and venue rules, and don’t wear them in private places such as changing rooms and toilets. Meta says the capture light on Meta Ray-Ban Display lets others know when you are capturing content or going live, and notifies you if the light is covered.
