Meta Ray-Ban Display gets hologram calls, cycling directions and five new markets
Meta Ray-Ban Display adds cycling and transit directions, WhatsApp hologram calls and phone notifications, and goes on sale in the UK, Canada, France, Italy and Germany.
The short answer
At Connect on September 23, 2026, Meta added cycling and public-transit directions, landmark-based walking directions, hologram video calls on WhatsApp, an Explore app, a fuller calendar, mirrored phone notifications and Threads feeds to Meta Ray-Ban Display, and put it on sale in the UK and Canada, with France, Italy and Germany from October 13.
Meta used Connect 2026 to give Meta Ray-Ban Display, its glasses with a screen in the lens, a round of new features and a much wider release. It is available to order online in the US, on sale in Canada and the UK, and heading to France, Italy and Germany. Here is what changed, from Meta’s announcement.

Navigation
Meta says heads-up navigation is a feature people consistently tell it they love. Voice-activated cycling directions and real-time transit departures appear on the display so your phone can stay in your pocket, starting later this month in the US and Canada. Walking directions will also use the world in front of you rather than street signs, so they can tell you to turn left at a landmark.
Hologram calls
Glasses are good for hands-free calls, but the other person can’t see you. Hologram fixes that: after a short self capture in the Meta AI app, you get a photorealistic digital version of your face for calls from Meta Ray-Ban Display. The hologram is driven by your voice alone, and Meta says its model infers your expression from what you say and how you say it. It starts rolling out in Early Access on WhatsApp to US users later this fall. Meta also announced hologram calling for its new VR Glasses.
Apps, calendar and notifications
An Explore app on the glasses and in the Meta AI app will offer experiences for learning, exploration and play. A more powerful calendar shows who is attending, lets you accept or decline, and lets you join meetings, in English in the US. Mirrored notifications are coming soon, with controls to turn off the ones you don’t want, and Threads brings curated Community Feeds you can repost from.
